The biggest difference is that Early Access turns several demo teases into real progression. The Facility is now discoverable, five characters are in the launch roster, quests unlock content, autosaves and controller support are live, targeting/QOL is improved, and several cards/effects have been rebalanced since older demo footage.
Version note: This page is written for the September 10, 2026 Early Access launch. Shroom and Gloom is actively changing, so treat older demo videos as historical unless the same behavior appears in launch footage or official notes.
Demo vs Early Access at a glance
| Area | Older demo evidence | Early Access launch |
|---|---|---|
| Facility | could be revealed but shown as locked in older videos | officially discoverable, with its own cards/enemies/rewards |
| Characters | some could be discovered but blocked by demo limits | five launch characters are listed by the developer |
| Quests | evolving/meta systems were still being reworked | quests actively unlock characters, Facility and card-pool growth |
| Saves | highly requested during development | autosave after fight wins / dungeon escapes |
| Controller | requested in demo community | launch support announced |
| Chinese | demo/store history varied | Simplified Chinese supported at launch |
| Targeting/QOL | older card interaction flow | launch notes describe improved targeting and a card inspector |
Card balance also moved
One launch-window video explicitly calls out Unholy Soup as having six uses and contrasts it with a much older demo version remembered as 666 uses. The important lesson is not just that one soup changed: old “broken combo” videos can be mechanically obsolete.
What old guides are still good for
Old footage remains useful for learning the visual language of Dig, Unlock, Reveal, Fix, Ignite, Feed and Break. It is much less reliable for availability, unlock conditions, exact card numbers and balance.
How this site handles versions
Pages are dated and version-labeled. If a statement is only backed by a demo run, it stays historical or gets held until launch evidence supports it.
For current progression, use Unlocks & Quests and Areas & Progression.
