A current-EA guide to the Facility: what changed from the demo, how its exploration interactions work, and how to manage route resources without wasting rests.

Quick answer

The Facility is a full Early Access path, not a locked demo teaser. Expect new card pools, enemies and rewards, but the core Explore verbs still matter: reveal hidden machinery, fix broken stations, unlock doors, feed experiment objects when appropriate, and use Warmth before expensive rests.

Version note: This page is written for the September 10, 2026 Early Access launch. Shroom and Gloom is actively changing, so treat older demo videos as historical unless the same behavior appears in launch footage or official notes.

What changed at launch

The official Early Access announcement calls the Facility an entirely new path toward the Gloom with its own cards, enemies and rewards. Older demo videos that end on “Facility locked” are historical.

Facility exploration is still about action economy

Current Facility footage repeatedly cycles through reveal, fix, ignite, unlock, feed, dig and break. The challenge is not recognizing the verb — it is having the right Explore card before Threat makes another rest expensive.

A useful sequence is:

  1. reveal anything obscured that may open new interactions;
  2. fix structures that create reusable value;
  3. use a flexible unlock/fix/dig card before bashing with health;
  4. create Warmth if another rest will hurt;
  5. only then refresh the Explore hand.

Machines and experiment rewards

Facility runs surface mechanical rewards such as turrets, lab interactions, gadget boxes and effects tied to Decay or healing modification. Because the path has a distinct card pool, do not force a Grove build template onto it. Let the first strong Facility rewards tell you which engine to pursue.

Watch for “I think” language in old videos

Launch players are still discovering what several Facility objects do. If a video speaker guesses at a formula, treat that as a lead, not a fact. This guide only promotes repeated actions and official launch-level structure as confirmed.

Facility run checklist

  • Enter with a lean Combat deck.
  • Keep at least one flexible Explore action when possible.
  • Fix value engines before spending health to brute-force doors.
  • Track rest damage and create Warmth first.
  • Remove weak cards when the route offers a forget effect.
